Planning

After a productive week of storyboarding our ideas and putting together our production schedule in class, yesterday we decided to go to London to take still pictures of the places in which we would like to shoot, so when we do film, we know where to go and what places to use in advance. However, after meeting at 11am, we had to wait 2 hours to find out that all trains into London were suspended, which was a waste of time, and very annoying. Now we have to rearrange when we can take these pictures and hopefully go on a day where the trains are running.

Knebworth Filming Practice

On the 12th of July our media class visited Knebworth house for the day to practice shooting a music video. In my group was myself, Ryan Bartlett and Laurence Kingdon. The song that we decided to choose was 'Sunny Afternoon' by 'The Kinks'. We chose this song as the theme for this music video was summer and the name suggests that this song was perfect. Prior to our visit to Knebworth House we had 4 lessons; over 2 weeks to prepare. Our group prepared by printing out the lyrics, practising lip syncing so it looked good for the video. We also made a storyboard which was a guideline to what types of shots we would do for each part of the song and it gave us an idea of where the shots would be taken. Overall the filming went quite well, we got most of our filming done at the actual house rather than the park. However, when we then started to edit our music video we found that you can never shoot too much and it showed as we had a lot of empty space which we struggled to fill. Overall I feel that the task was extremely helpful and now doing our A2 production, which is a music video, we will be more confident in what to do as we have the experience.
